This anthology of prose and poetry was really wonderful and I was very impressed by it. Actually, it wasn't until I read You Are Married Now by Anthony Beedles and saw the line about jumping the broomstick that I even realized that the author was Black and it took reading Invisible Brother by Stacy Woods to be sure that all the works were by Black authors. I think that says a lot for the universality of love and the high quality of the writing that a Jewish woman like myself could identify so much with the feelings that were expressed across ethnic, gender, racial, and generational lines. I enjoyed reading Bubblin' Brown Sugar very much and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend some time reading about love.Product details

Bubblin' Brown Sugar edition by Kimberly Matthews Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I have to say that this book was indeed captivating. The stories were great along with the beautiful love poetry. I must say...reading this definitely put my mind and body at ease.
I will definitely recommend this book to my friends and family.
I was always a sucker for a good love story. These little snippets inspired by love are a perfect escape on a busy day when only a few moments are available to be transported to another world of love, longing, and acceptance.
The dialogue is so natural and the emotions jump from the page in a very authentic and raw fashion. I give this little gem a 5 thumbs up.

I really enjoyed reading Bubblin' Brown Sugar. Every contribution to this anthology was well written and really caught my attention. I love anthologies because of the versatility and different writing styles of the various authors. This one did not disappoint. I am also a fan of love stories and poetry and if you are too I strongly recommend that you one click this book.
I really enjoyed this compilation of short stories. There were different short stories of love, lust, betrayal and regret.
My favorite stories were
Lisa's Dress... Wow so well written from the male point of view.
Invisible Brother.... Another great story from the male perspective.
I was pleasantly surprised with this collection of short stories and poems. This book definitely kept my attention with the different scenarios of love gained, love dismissed, love refound. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of the minor editing errors within some of the stories, but a great read nonetheless.
The other day I was sitting in the doctors office when I pulled out my phone, pulled up the app and began to read. The first story, Lisa's Dress pulled me in and kept me entertained during the entire wait. What a wonderfully well written short story! A quick venture into love, bad decisions, and the consequences that remain made the story of Will and Lisa stick with me. If you haven't had the chance to read it, check it out! Bubblin' Brown Sugar
In an effort to organize the books in my , I rediscovered this free find. I did not know what to expect, as it was downloaded a while ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. Lisa's Dress stayed with me, however, Placeholder Barista was the one that stuck to my ribs like hot oatmeal. I know far too many of us never realize a good thing till its gone, and this story is example of that old adage. Well written and thought provoking, I was fascinated with this story and it caught me by surprise.
My dissertation involves fiction with African American male characters in all levels of fiction, who have challenges and have an anagnorisis (recognition or an epiphany) and make a critical change. These male characters excited me and I would love to read more stories with this level of sophistication.
It was a total pay off to read this book.
